“Angel”
Oil on Canvas
70cm x 100cm, £650
Angel is named for the blessed dawning upon a new mother of the enormity of the delicate, living person she holds in her hands. Angel is about the cycle of motherhood and evolution. The real mother is earthy, stylised and naked, making her timeless. The child’s clothing is old fashioned, the dolls she cradles are modern, and the skin of this trio is more realistic, bringing them round to the fore. The wild wind that sweeps through the scene, upon closer inspection is actually wallpaper patterning, and a sofa.
