The Celestial Gardener, painting by Philomena Harmsworth

The Celestial Gardener is the Long Man of Wilmington come to life, tending his field of Daffodils in this land of springtide. The Long Man is considered a Solstice Marker with Orion directly above him at midnight on the shortest night of the year. Roland Penrose, of Farley Farm House, could see him from his home and promptly adopted him with his celestial qualities as guardian of the farm and the harvest. The fruitful bounty of daffodil bulbs in the painting, symbolise that surprising and emphatic enthusiasm of spring.

Apologies, this painting is sold.
