Bonfire Night, Lewes (Fine Art Prints)

Bonfire Night, Lewes. Painting by Philomena Harmsworth

On arrival in Sussex, my first impression was the feeling that ancient lives were still in existence somehow. This was particularly evident in the rickety buildings and tiny alleyways of Lewes. That feeling was embodied during the much-celebrated Bonfire Night march through the streets with lit torches and drumming. I wanted to incorporate the elements of fire, organised anarchy, evocative costumes, the wheels of the carts and the spent torches smoking in columns at the side of the road. These long celebrated rites with the marching of feet build on, and deepen, that initial feeling of mine.

These limited edition artist’s prints are collector’s items, each one is 1 of 100, they are made using light fast ink on artist quality, acid free paper to the standard of the Guild of Fine Arts, titled and signed by the artist. That means, the image will not fade in the light, nor will the paper brown. The image is 27 x 34.4cm and comes: simply the print, in a card board tube at £65, The print in a luxuriously thick card mount and framed in a warm white frame for £145.
